Day 9 – West to East Really is Downhill!

Another good day to be a bicycle rider. Yes, some rollers, but half the day was level and at times even downhill. The wind kept me cool and for the most part was from the south-west instead of south-east. Makes a difference when cycling west to east. At the end of the 62 miles, I was actually averaged 13.3 mph. Quite a change from 9-10 mph.

Was this a homestead? Were times both happy and hard? Did kids play in the front yard? The chimney was in the middle of the house, I bet it heated just about all of it. What was the building to the left for? Many, many thoughts to ponder as I peddled on by.

I couldn’t resist. If there are any Richard Rawlins/Gas Monkey fans out there, these are at mile 237 on US 36 through Kansas.

As country singer Cody Johnson says: “………..you can always get around to fixing up that Pontiac, ‘Til you can’t.”
