The foreground is the old suspension bridge over the Ohio River in Wheeling, West Virginia. Behind it the new bridge of I-70. The Ohio river which has seen its days of busy river traffic supporting this part of the nation and supplying those heading west. A nicely written historical placard describing this once bustling wharf, rail station and crossroads of the nation’s highway.
Now that I’ve crossed the Midwest, tomorrow I head into the heart of the Appalachians. Yes, I am a bit nervous as to what lies ahead. Many good memories of people and places from the last month.
