Dy 46 – Climb until you can’t; Lake Tahoe; We’re not in California anymore

The American River

While climbing to the Echo Pass summit, I did manage to take a couple stops along the river. I definitely could have gone for a cooling dip in the river.

King Fire of 2014. Burned between Pollock Pines and Echo Pass Summit.

Unfortunately, as those of us from Colorado know, a wildfire can be crazily selective. The cabin and the remaining chimney were on lots next to each other. There was still a lot of logging of the burned-out trees. I saw no re-building of destroyed cabins.

The Day’s Long Haul.

I started the day at about 3,400′ and ended climb one at 7,382. For me, at least, it was a better climb than in the Appalachians.

The reward for the day’s long haul – Lake Tahoe
Into Nevada

It had been a long day with more yet to come. Hence, I didn’t contribute to the life of the border casinos.

Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is one big, beautiful lake.

One More Pass

Although I knew I had one more climb for the day, little did I know it would be another pass. This was only from the 6,285′ of Lake Tahoe.

Tomorrow on to Fallon, Nevada. Should be some foothill climbs but it appears the climbing through the High Sierras is over.
