I do believe I’m just about through the Appalachians. Today’s ride was actually relatively flat for the first 10 miles or so and then rollers. And the rollers weren’t even that steep. Can you believe I’m saying this? I welcomed the rollers as opposed to the mountain climbs of the Appalachians.
The Susquehanna River passing through Columbia, Pennsylvania on its way to The Chesapeake Bay. It started in upstate New York. A fun fact: at 444 miles it is the longest river on the east coast. Several dams along the way supply power.
This plaque honors the sons and daughters from Columbia County who served in the military.
The circle in downtown Lancaster. I pulled off US-30 to ride through the town. It took a bit longer, but I enjoyed seeing the historic parts of the town dating back to the late 1700’s.
One last thought from yesterday. Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address with the middle part dealing with the dedication of those who died at the battle edited out.
