After many days of peddling through the desert basins of Nevada and Utah, what a refreshing view looking back after a long (13mile) climb. Although longer, it was a gentler climb (less grade) than the Appalachians. Perhaps all I really remember is that the climbs in the Appalachians sort of kicked my butt whereas this one really didn’t. Or not having the extra 30# in the panniers on the back of the bike made a big difference. Perhaps a combination of both.
Some very pretty flowers as well. Although the elevation is over 8,000′, according to G. Maps this part of the day was “mostly flat”.
After the days of dried-up lakes, salt beds and dust, I found the crystal blue water of Strawberry Reservoir with the lush green and the silhouetted mountains a refreshing sight.
This day’s blog is late since our accommodations for the night in Fruitland, Utah did not have internet access.
