Day 44 – Just about a perfect day to ride; A pleasant odor; Some sights; Some thoughts

60 Miles

Today was just about a perfect a day to cycle. This was pretty much the terrain for all of today. I did miss my riding companion of the last two days, Luke. I had forgotten how taking to myself gets a bit boring.

Wind from the Northwest

What started out to be a very nice cooling breeze turned into quite the headwind at times. I rode north and east on very nice roads with a bike lane. The east legs weren’t so bad. But this was in my face on the north legs.

Beautiful Blossoms – Beautiful Fragrance

I couldn’t help but notice the beautiful fragrance from many a bush that lined many of the roads. Much different from the roadkill odor encountered on earlier roads.

California cows. Not much interest in a bicycle rider.
I just have something for older bridges – especially ones I get to ride over.
Just one of those curious thoughts

In more than one place, there were mature trees lining the road between the road and a crop field. Who planted them and why?

Good Urban Planning

What a great way to allow for parking and a bike lane. Much safer than having the bike lane to the left of the parked cars. I wonder who thought of it?

Overall, a very good day. Tomorrow, I start the long and gradual climb into the Sierras as I head to Pollock Pines. I’ve broken the climb into two days.
